A powerful battery charger, coupled to a motor driven generator (genset) can be a useful backup for your solar / wind energy sources, especially around the "energy doldrum's " of the mid season equinox's. The charger must be carefully sized to the genset, so as not to overload it, for the genset must also power the A.C load's as the battery is being recharged.
